This weekend, Kobe Bryant will have surgery to repair his torn left Achilles Tendon. While we initially speculated about Bryant's timetable to recover from such an injury, the Lakers trainer Gary Vitti has officially declared that Kobe will be out for six to nine months. When discussing Bryant's situation, Vitt didn't hold back with the details, calling the Achilles injury a "complete rupture," as well as saying that the tendon needs "to be sewn back together." Yikes! Following the surgery, Bryant will be immobilized for a month or more. With everything goes to plan, Kobe could be available by the start of the 2013-14 season. Get Well Mamba.

The special edition release sees both the Authentic and Sk8-Hi with off-white canvas uppers, white rubber foxing, vulcanized gum rubber outsoles, and the trademarked tourism logo throughout. Finished with printed branding on the insoles, the DQM x Vans 2013 Spring/Summer "I Love NY" Collection is due to be available in-store and online from The Vans DQM General beginning April 19th.
Facebook, in conjunction with smartphone-maker HTC, wireless service provider AT&T and Android, launched a mobile OS of its own called Facebook Home. I don’t know about this. Facebook has pretty much lost its luster to me. Not only that, but I don’t think I’d want any kind of phone purely based off of a social media site. What do you guys think?

Reebok has officially given Rick Ross the boot. The company announced Thursday that it is parting ways with the Miami rapper after weeks of controversy surrounding his U.O.E.N.O. date rape lyrics. In the song, Ross states, “Put molly all in her champagne, she ain’t even know it/ I took her home and I enjoyed that, she ain’t even know,” causing an uproar among listeners. The decision comes just a week after Ross’ half-assed Twitter apology in which he said he doesn’t condone rape and was sorry for “the lyric interpreted as rape.” Women’s rights group UltraViolet was a vital piece in bringing down the “boss,” collecting nearly 100,000 signatures for their Drop Rick Ross petition while staging a protest outside of Reebok’s New York flagship store. Ross has yet to comment on the announcement.

Two greatly-admired staples in their respective realms, Raf Simons and Fred Perry join forces for a Spring/Summer 2013 collection dubbed Collage. Toying with a juxtaposition of patterns and hues, the collection displays trademark motifs from both brands with Raf Simons’ post-modern aesthetic applied to Fred Perry’s recognizable polos, pullovers, and bomber jackets. A revival of the labels’ joint ventures from previous seasons, the collection crosses over traditional features with forward-thinking embellishments — an example seen in the detachable polo shirt collar. As Raft Simmons suggests, “Collage – SS13 offers a very controlled and pure do-it-yourself attitude. The collection shows a juxtaposition of very different materials, prints and colours, therefore giving the wearer a possibility to combine the garments in different ways.”

Samsung just released its first TV promotion for the Galaxy 4S, which is making no bones about their target consumer. In the ad, a young exchange student has dinner with an Asian family abroad. The meal is fantastic and she wants to say so, but of course there's that language barrier. So out comes the Galaxy 4S, into which the girl mumbles a phrase: "Food is great." She holds up the phone, and the family looks baffled, but when the Galaxy 4S spits out what she said in their language, everyone laughs.
