Travel: The Ladera Caribbean Resort

Ladera Resort in Soufrière, St. Lucia, reopened this season with a new wine cellar and tasting room—the first in a series of new additions to the resort in celebration of its 20th anniversary in 2012. The cellar features 1,000 different wines selected by Ladera’s new head sommelier, Karim Boulet, who trained at Michelin two-star restaurant Lasserre in Paris. He will host private pairing dinners in the adjacent tasting room for up to eight guests. Yachts: The 22nd Monaco Yacht Show

Now in its 22nd year, the Monaco Yacht Show serves as the world’s grandest stage for the industry’s most beautiful yachts to make their debuts and impress the yachting community’s elite. The 2012 show, held from September 19th-22nd, showcased some extraordinary launches from the last year, as well as a number of older yachts. In general, the industry is experiencing a slowdown in terms of new launches, due largely to the lack of orders placed during the economic slowdown that began in 2008, with the typical two- to four-year build times of larger yachts prompting the current lull in launches. Design: Bonaire House by Silberstein Architect

The aptly named Bonaire House is an architectural feat created by Florida-based Silberstein Architecture. Situated on the Caribbean island of Bonaire, the two-story house comprises lofty and spacious rooms which boasts full-scale windows and a clean simplistic design, as well as open outdoor communal areas, a swimming pool, and open planning within its interior that even includes a second floor walkway bridge. The 45-acre Rancho Valencia, a Relais & Châteaux property located 30 minutes north of downtown San Diego, has reopened this month after a massive renovation.
