Sneakers: SUPRA Chimera By Lil Wayne

Rapper Lil Wayne and SUPRA team up to produce the Chimera, a fitting name to say the least. What the shoe doesn’t say with its relatively simple colorway choices it makes up for big time with its shape. The shoe features a super-sized heel and midsole panel as well as a hefty padded tongue. Adding to the hodgepodge implications of its namesake is the variety of materials used across different colorways. For example, the tonal black edition uses mostly synthetic materials while the grey edition incorporates suede onto its side panels. By far the sleekest of the three, the white and pink edition uses a combination of smooth and pebbled leather. For a closer look at the Chimera and its different styles, check out Sneaker Freaker’s Issue 27 here.

Sneakers: Air Jordan 9 Retro “Black Bottom”

In the latter half of 2012, Jordan Brand’s retro releases of the IX included a predominately black Photo Blue version. While that release entailed a two-tone outsole, numerous pieces were also produced with an incorrect, Black Bottom outsole. Despite no inherent manufacturing flaws, they were immediately deemed “B-Grade” for their inability to match up with the original color code. But rather than destroy a perfectly fine run of footwear or send them to outlets), Jordan Brand will release the “Black Bottom” Jordan 9 Retro on May 9th with a suggested retail price of $130 USD. They will be available exclusively via Nike.com through a link provided via the @NikeStore Twitter account.
