Hawk is undeniably the ambassador of skateboarding to the rest of pop culture, having revolutionized vert maneuvers and business practices alike in his journey to alpine success. As a self-described “hyper-energetic” child, The Birdman can now sit admirably and calmly as he discusses raising children, organizing a concert and, of course, his love of skateboarding with Pharrell. Back in 2011, the original People Are Awesome video -- a compilation of people accomplishing incredible physical feats for four and a half minutes -- amassed 55 million views on Facebook. Now, the people behind that video have released "People Are Awesome 2013," with the latest in daredevil stunts and athletic prowess caught on tape. Lil Wayne is recovering from what sounds like a nasty spill taken at a St. Louis-area skate park.

The rapper was in town to perform at a concert on Sunday, and afterward headed out with his skateboard. After taking a fall, though, he landed at the DePaul Health Center emergency room, reports Rolling Stone.

"The Lou was good but I busted my...head at the sk8park!" Wayne tweeted Monday. "9stitches! Gnarly gash over my left eye! Luv the people."

The 28-year-old is gearing up for a performance at the MTV Video Music Awards this Sunday, and is set to release his album, "Tha Carter IV," immediately after the show on the Web.
