Sneakers: Nike Lunar Flyknit Chukka

http://www.theblueprintmagazine.com/images_frt5/081_nike1.png

Since the introduction of Nike’s Flyknit, the technology has rapidly seen an expansion and integration amidst a variety of the sportswear giant’s other staple advances. One of the more successful iterations has been the celebrated Nike Lunar Flyknit Chukka execution. The latest colorways to drop from the developing pantheon of the fused technologies is the Tarp Green and Total Crimson version. Sitting atop the latter hue, the Lunar outsole poses a nice contrast against the heathered Tarp Green and Black Sail upper Flyknit. Rounded out with a blacked out Swoosh and tonal laces, the pair is now available from titolo for a retail tag of €149 EUR (approximately $194 USD).

It’s clear that LeBron James has had a decorated history as a player, as underlined by his latest award: the 2012-2013 Most Valuable Player award – immortalized by Nike in the form of a crazy pair of King James’ signature kicks. The trophy is his fourth in five years, a feat only accomplished by Bill Russell in his day. The hype surrounding James is in many ways warranted, yet it seems that for as long as the 28-year-old has been in the league, he’s had just as many critics as he has accolades. The NBA has released a video retrospective of James’ career thus far, which gives viewers a somewhat complete look at the road the young player has paved for himself – a road undoubtedly deserving of respect.

In the latter half of 2012, Jordan Brand’s retro releases of the IX included a predominately black Photo Blue version. While that release entailed a two-tone outsole, numerous pieces were also produced with an incorrect, Black Bottom outsole. Despite no inherent manufacturing flaws, they were immediately deemed “B-Grade” for their inability to match up with the original color code. But rather than destroy a perfectly fine run of footwear or send them to outlets), Jordan Brand will release the “Black Bottom” Jordan 9 Retro on May 9th with a suggested retail price of $130 USD. They will be available exclusively via Nike.com through a link provided via the @NikeStore Twitter account.
