Videos: Google & Adidas "Talking" Shoes

Google and adidas have joined forces on a new sneaker that, thanks to some super slick features, is capable of turning into a smart-talking shoe with a major personality. At the moment, I don’t see a need for something like this. It’s still pretty cool though. Over time, the shoe develops it’s own personality that will respond to your activity. The Talking Shoe can be snarky, motivational and excited depending on your movement that day. Oh, and if you feel like sharing your status with your entire Facebook or Google+ feed, the Bluetooth connection makes it totally possible through your phone— although we're not sure if all of our friends would need to know when our shoe is getting mad at us for skipping a run in favor of laying on the couch. Enjoy.

Tech: Hater iPhone App

http://theblueprintmagazine.com/images_frt4/871_hater1.png

Ever wish there was a Hate equivalent to the Like button on Facebook? Now there is one. Hater (Free) is a new service that lets you share your hate with the world. Features include a built-in Hater camera, rant-writing capabilities, the ability to share Hates anonymously under an Alter Ego, the ability to instantly share your Hates via Facebook and Twitter, and the ability to browse through the most popular hates. Just consider putting a passcode on your phone if you download it — a list of the things you hate *cough* mustard *cough* could be dangerous if it fell into the wrong hands.

Politics: How Social Media is Sinking Romney

http://theblueprintmagazine.com/images_frt/905_mitt.jpg

Love or hate his politics, Mitt Romney’s recurring social media slipups show how technology is changing the campaign game, and steepening on the learning curve. The significance of social media is indisputable. While its monetary value is still up for debate, the influential role it plays in users’ lives is inarguable, and that’s become incredibly evident in the world of politics. The fact that campaigns now have Social Media Directors is proof enough that this stuff matters – as in could decide elections matters. [See & Read More]

Even given my status as an Old Guy Who Loves Facebook — a phenomenon of the modern age characterized by aggravated carpal-tunnel syndrome, a weirdly revived devotion to high-school chums, and a proclivity for throwing old Van Morrison videos out to a gaping world — I have to admit that the giddy national pageant attending Friday's Facebook IPO has left me awfully cold, and awfully pessimistic that this country ever is going to get its economic house in order in anything resembling a fair and just way. Spotify is moving up in the world. Just a couple months ago, reports emerged that the music streaming company was trying to raise money from investors at a $3.5 billion valuation— but some doubted that it was actually worth that much. Today, though, DealBook reports that Spotify is successfully raising hundreds of millions at a valuation of not $3.5 billion, but a full $4 billion. [See & Read More]

In his ongoing quest to conquer every platform he sets his sights on, Jay-Z has announced his plans for a Facebook game titled Empire. According to the synopsis of the beta game, “Empire takes you on a journey from the streets of Marcy Housing in Brooklyn to the hotspots of the rich and famous: from hustler, to entrepreneur, to business mogul. But, don’t forget friends and family, or your karma will suffer. Make the right choices and you can have it all: cash, bling, fame, street cred and good karma.” With similarities obviously drawn from Jay’s past, some see this game as a way for artists to connect with fans in an all-new way.
