In the midst of what seems to be a full-on hybrid/electric boom, BMW submits it's two entries into the field of eco-friendly automobiles: the Electric i3 SUV and the Hybrid-Electric i8 Sports Car. The all-electric i3 promises 80-100 miles per charge with an optional gas and motor-powered range extender (used to charge the battery) for an additional 80 to 100 miles.
The i8 is a hybrid-electric vehicle, featuring both an electric motor and an internal combustion engine which will yield roughly 20-30 miles per charge, which when paired with the i8s internal combustion engine increases to about 300 miles.
