KOMONO timepieces are undeniably recognizable. The most obvious signpost for the label’s branding is of course its heavy reliance upon bold, all-over print designs. And yet, delving deeper then simply emblazoning each watch with overused motifs, the label stands strong by constantly churning out original and innovative patterns. The latest installment for the label’s MAGNUS PRINT SERIES and WIZARD PRINT SERIES arrive in the form of a new Spring/Summer 2013 range of timepieces. A selection from KOMONO’s 2013 spring/summer collection is now available in their online store here.

Adopted long ago as the post-modern signature of New York City, Milton Glaser’s iconic 1977 pop-art I Love NY logo is set to make its way to two of Vans‘ most beloved footwear silhouettes for a Spring/Summer 2013 collaboration with the Big Apple’s own DQM. The special edition release sees both the Authentic and Sk8-Hi with off-white canvas uppers, white rubber foxing, vulcanized gum rubber outsoles, and the trademarked tourism logo throughout. Finished with printed branding on the insoles, the DQM x Vans 2013 Spring/Summer "I Love NY" Collection is due to be available in-store and online from The Vans DQM General beginning April 19th.

Two greatly-admired staples in their respective realms, Raf Simons and Fred Perry join forces for a Spring/Summer 2013 collection dubbed Collage. Toying with a juxtaposition of patterns and hues, the collection displays trademark motifs from both brands with Raf Simons’ post-modern aesthetic applied to Fred Perry’s recognizable polos, pullovers, and bomber jackets. A revival of the labels’ joint ventures from previous seasons, the collection crosses over traditional features with forward-thinking embellishments — an example seen in the detachable polo shirt collar. As Raft Simmons suggests, “Collage – SS13 offers a very controlled and pure do-it-yourself attitude. The collection shows a juxtaposition of very different materials, prints and colours, therefore giving the wearer a possibility to combine the garments in different ways.”

Standing out next to the more straightforward designs of typical hardwood footwear, the Air Jordan XX8‘s zippered shroud allows for a plethora of bold looks for the otherwise stealth-inspired silhouette – as evidenced by the Christmas Day edition (donned by Russell Westbrook) and the player exclusives created for Oak Hill and Montrose. The latest illustration of this is the upcoming “Carbon Fiber” edition of the Tinker Hatfield- and Josh Heard-designed Jordan Brand flagship. A nod to the brand’s roots in carbon fiber performance, the kicks make use of a carbon fiber-like pattern across the entirety of the synthetic shroud while Bright Crimson tones adorn the midsole, laces, and mesh bootie within. Complete with a tonal white outsole and the silhouette’s signature Flight Plate, the “Carbon Fiber” Air Jordan XX8 is set to drop this Saturday, April 13th at Jordan Brand stockists for $250 USD.

Balancing a nostalgic historical sense with radical modernism is KRISVANASSCHE‘s forte, and it’s a skill the designer brings to his latest work with EASTPAK. With multipurpose use in mind, the Spring/Summer 2013 EASTPAK by KRISVANASSCHE collection consists of two backpacks, an attaché case, bowling bag, messenger, carry case and pouch that can be transformed in multiple ways. And, in keeping with KRISVANASSCHE’s unique design sensibilities, the bags bridge the gap between city and sportswear, with fabrics ranging from structured twill 100% nylon to soft grey marl jersey. Zip string and elastic details throughout conjure up images of climbing ropes, adding a touch of the outdoors, while black leather binding and rubber reinforcements infuse the collection with hard-wearing, yet sophisticated elements.
