In addition, it was revealed that "football and basketball players made up a majority of the enrollments of nine particularly suspect classes in which the professors listed as instructors have denied involvement, and have claimed that signatures were forged on records related to them."Looking further into the issue, it revealed that there were 54 classes showing evidence of academic fraud because they contained little instruction.
Ironically, almost every class was taught by Julius Nyang’oro, the longtime chairman of the African and Afro-American Studies Department, who supposedly used some of the classes as independent studies courses, instead of lectures. While no one knows how long this operation has gone on, it should come as no surprise to those who always believed that football and basketball student-athletes have received plenty of preferential treatment through their collegiate career.
