
During his time in Paris he was able to make industry contacts and launched his first store Jungle Jap in 1970. Takada’s design signature emerged because he was forced due to a lack of funds to combine all of the bold prints that he purchased from a flea market into one garment. Industry recognition began to come in the form of one of his models appearing on the cover of Elle Magazine and winning the Fashion Editor Club of Japan award. In 1993 the label was sold to LVMH and Mr. Kenzo retired in 1999.
