Tech: Introducing Apple iOS 7

http://theblueprintmagazine.com/images_frt5/134_os71.png

Skeuomorphic-design haters rejoice. Apple iOS 7 ($TBA) does away with the much-maligned design trend that attempts to make apps appear like their real-life counterparts (no more felt and stitches), while introducing a redesigned UI and a number of features. Changes start with the lock screen, which now animates in parallax to your movement and includes notifications even before swiping. The new Control Center gives you important settings and buttons from nearly any app and quick access to music controls and a flashlight. iOS in the Car brings your device, eyes-free, to a host of car makes. Couple those changes with iTunes Radio, and improvements to multiTasking, Safari, Airdrop, Camera, Siri, and theft deterrence, and you get a pretty impressive release. Checkout a video of Apple’s design captain Jony Ive give a meticulous breakdown of the elements that went into the new design. [Watch The Video]

Tech: Lumawake iPhone Smart Dock

http://theblueprintmagazine.com/images_frt5/124_lumawake1.png

For far too long, your iPhone Dock has sat around like a lazy stoner. Sure, it charges your phone and can maybe spit out some of your tunes, but what else? We mean, they sell refrigerators that can tweet for Pete’s sake! The Lumawake is ready to show you what a dock can be. The iPhone smart dock can fit any iPhone with any case, and will light up when you approach so you can charge your iPhone after you’ve shut the lights off to go to sleep. That alone would make it smarter than most docks, but the Lumawake does so much more. The dock also tracks your sleeping habits and will even gradually light up at the right time during your sleep cycle to help you wake refreshed. Oh yeah, it also can connect to things in your home so you can have your coffee brewing when you wake up. Your other dock needs to seriously step up its game.

Gadgets: Tagg Pet Tracker

http://www.theblueprintmagazine.com/images_frt5/102_pettracker.png

AS the weather gets warmer keep tabs on your pooch, kitty, or pet wildebeest with the Tagg Pet Tracker ($200 USD). Using a sophisticated cocktail of GPS and wireless technology, the Tagg monitors your pet's location, alerting you via email and/or text if it leaves its Tagg Zone — the area it spends most of its time, which is likely your home, unless you have your wildebeest guarding your secret, deep-woods grow operation — and runs on Verizon's data network, so you can rest assured you won't lose your pet due to a lack of coverage.

Videos: New Traktor DJ App for iPhone

Berlin music technology staple Native Instruments continues its foray into advanced DJ equipment with its latest Traktor version for iPhone and iPod Touch. While a Traktor version for the iPad debuted in February, users of the smaller touchscreens can now perform their musical endeavors with equal dexterity. With all the same functions seen with Traktor Pro — three band EQ, Traktor effects, NI audio interfaces, touch sensitive GUI emphases via waveform – the latest app, as it seems, is a compressed version of the Traktor software, packing in all the operative elements onto a smaller screen. Allowing DJs of all level to have a hands-on approach at their own musical creativity, the Traktor DJ App is now available at $5 USD from the Apple App Store. Enjoy.

Tech: Twitter #Music iPhone App

http://www.theblueprintmagazine.com/images_frt5/034_twitter.png

Up 'til now, Twitter has been a great place to discover what's happening, what your friends are doing, and what everyone's talking about. But finding new music? Not so hot. Until today, that is. Twitter #Music ($Free) is a new official app that makes it easy to find what songs are trending, what artists are emerging, what the artists you follow are listening to, and what tracks your friends are digging. Just sign in with your Twitter account, link the app with Spotify or Rdio, and enjoy. Also, please note that denoting a song as "such a great track" is a pretty sure-fire way to ensure no one ever listens to it.

Keep track of the conditions both inside and outdoors with the Netatmo Weather Station ($180). Designed exclusively for use with smartphones and tablets, this system includes sleek, separate cylindrical aluminum and white modules for outside and inside, which work together to measure the temperature, barometric pressure, humidity, and CO2 concentration, and communicate with a dedicated app over Wi-Fi. It's like having your own personal Weather Channel, only without the dorky hosts and elevator music.

Tech: Ridiculous Fishing iPhone App

http://theblueprintmagazine.com/images_frt4/908_ish.png

Indeed, the premise behind Ridiculous Fishing ($3) is ridiculous — but you'll feel anything but while playing it. The game involves dropping a hook, catching as many fish on said hook as you can, reeling them back up, and then blasting the living hell out of as many as you can using your gun. Also: no greedy calls for you to buy extra stuff after you've already bought it — buy it once, play it forever — and fish that become hats. It's only three bucks, so go download it already.

Tech: Hater iPhone App

http://theblueprintmagazine.com/images_frt4/871_hater1.png

Ever wish there was a Hate equivalent to the Like button on Facebook? Now there is one. Hater (Free) is a new service that lets you share your hate with the world. Features include a built-in Hater camera, rant-writing capabilities, the ability to share Hates anonymously under an Alter Ego, the ability to instantly share your Hates via Facebook and Twitter, and the ability to browse through the most popular hates. Just consider putting a passcode on your phone if you download it — a list of the things you hate *cough* mustard *cough* could be dangerous if it fell into the wrong hands.
