Sneakers: Air Jordan 5 Retro “Grape”

An early ’90s classic and a perfect representation of the decade’s style sensibilities, the “Grape” edition of the Air Jordan 5 is set for a retro return more than 20 years after its initial release. Sporting a White/New Emerald-Grape colorway, the kicks see a predominately white leather upper with minimal black accents, an icy blue outsole, and a combination of New Emerald and Grape accents on everything from the tongue and midsole to the branding. Complete with the silhouette’s signature WWII Mustang fighter plane-inspired midsole design and breathable mesh paneling, the 2013 Air Jordan 5 Retro “Grape” is due to hit Jordan Brand retailers on May 4 for $160 USD.

Sneakers: Air Jordan XX8 "Carbon Fiber"

Standing out next to the more straightforward designs of typical hardwood footwear, the Air Jordan XX8‘s zippered shroud allows for a plethora of bold looks for the otherwise stealth-inspired silhouette – as evidenced by the Christmas Day edition (donned by Russell Westbrook) and the player exclusives created for Oak Hill and Montrose. The latest illustration of this is the upcoming “Carbon Fiber” edition of the Tinker Hatfield- and Josh Heard-designed Jordan Brand flagship. A nod to the brand’s roots in carbon fiber performance, the kicks make use of a carbon fiber-like pattern across the entirety of the synthetic shroud while Bright Crimson tones adorn the midsole, laces, and mesh bootie within. Complete with a tonal white outsole and the silhouette’s signature Flight Plate, the “Carbon Fiber” Air Jordan XX8 is set to drop this Saturday, April 13th at Jordan Brand stockists for $250 USD.

Style: EASTPAK by KRISVANASSCHE Collection

Balancing a nostalgic historical sense with radical modernism is KRISVANASSCHE‘s forte, and it’s a skill the designer brings to his latest work with EASTPAK. With multipurpose use in mind, the Spring/Summer 2013 EASTPAK by KRISVANASSCHE collection consists of two backpacks, an attaché case, bowling bag, messenger, carry case and pouch that can be transformed in multiple ways. And, in keeping with KRISVANASSCHE’s unique design sensibilities, the bags bridge the gap between city and sportswear, with fabrics ranging from structured twill 100% nylon to soft grey marl jersey. Zip string and elastic details throughout conjure up images of climbing ropes, adding a touch of the outdoors, while black leather binding and rubber reinforcements infuse the collection with hard-wearing, yet sophisticated elements. Sneakers: Liberty & Nike Air Force 1

Like the Nike Air Force 1, Liberty of London‘s patterns are both historic and contemporary, motifs that have stood the test of time and trends. The Liberty x Nike Sportswear Air Force 1 Downtown marries the former’s bold, multicolored prints with the latter’s classic lines, and is part of an ongoing collaboration that shows no signs of slowing. Using the Air Force 1 Downtown’s slimmed-down, casual-ready silhouette as a canvas, Liberty reworked its uppers with a trio of vibrant patterns, with each option grounded by semi-translucent rubber soles.
