Sports: Why People Hate Notre Dame Football

Notre Dame is going to play for college football’s crown jewel – The BCS National Championship. ND is the first to start the season unranked and end up earning a BCS birth. A movie will probably be made about this unimaginable rags-to-riches saga, complete with last-minute victories against all odds. Yet according to my informal unscientific poll of football fans, Brussels sprouts have an approval rating 74% higher than Notre Dame Football. The reasons are numerous tasty morsels for the haters. Videos: Inside Al Capone's Miami Home
A rare glimpse inside the Miami compound of the infamous Chicago gangster, Al Capone. The massive compound on Palm Island in Miami will hit the market in the next few days — but only modern-day robber barons could afford the $9.95 million asking price. Capone bought the home at the height of his power in 1928 for just $40,000. Last year, Peter Corsell, founder of the energy solutions conglomerate Grid Point, bought it for $5.65 million with the intention of fully restoring it to its original gangster grandeur. Enjoy.

Videos: Deconstructing The Tiffany Setting
Before the arrival of the Tiffany & Co setting in 1886, engagement diamonds were a bit repressed.“All diamonds were set in a bezel so only the crown (top) was visible,” says Russell Shor, senior analyst for the Gemological Institute of America. Kind of like a turtleneck sweater, but for gemstones. Seeking to expose more of the diamond’s surface and with it, more shine, Charles Lewis Tiffany, along with company gemologists, proposed a new contraption: a raised claw to hold a diamond securely but visibly atop a ring band. The blueprints for the Tiffany setting, as it was called, insisted on a special number of prongs, meticulous collet (base that grips the diamond) engineering and, most importantly, less metal obscuring the main attraction. The world's favorite engagement ring style, the Tiffany Setting. It’s been called “the most brilliant ring ever”—another way to say it’s got shine down to a science. Just how does it do that exactly? Watch the video above to find out. Enjoy.
